About

My name is Adrianne, and I am an avid home cook for whom cooking — ideally with local, seasonal ingredients –has become a passion.  I will confess up front that I have no formal culinary training.  Rather, I have amassed what culinary knowledge I currently possess by reading cook books, watching cooking shows, and doing copious amounts of practice in my home kitchen in Washington, DC.  One thing I deeply believe is that there’s rarely any one “right” or “best” way to do anything, so I get a lot of pleasure from experimenting with different methods to accomplish the same task and testing conventional wisdom.  In addition to developing recipes and honing cooking techniques, I’m keenly interested in other aspects of the overall food experience, including the importance of sustainable agriculture and how to support it, where to find quality ingredients for home-cooked meals, determining which restaurants in my neighborhood are worthwhile, and issues concerning environmentally-friendly disposal of food waste.  If you also care about one or more of these issues, then I hope you will come join me for this next part of my culinary journey by following and participating in my blog, capitolhillcooks.wordpress.com.
